Sandra directed Janice toward 10th Avenue while telling no one in the car why, other than, “You’ll love this shit.”

Janice asked what it was like living in Hauser, and Sandra scoffed at the mere mention of the town. She wasn’t going to dignify living in that little backwater cluster of cousin-fucking ranchers any more than she was going to explain how she murdered five of its residents yesterday. The entire subject was beneath her.

“Dee and Holly did something cool,” MG said. “Tell her!” She elbowed Dee to dish.

“I guess,” Dee rolled her eyes, pretending she wasn’t itching to tell the entire story. “So, you remember Molly Laskin? She was, like, a senior when you left... Anyway, she was dating my cousin Hank, and that bitch was such a skank.”

“You won’t believe this,” Holly interrupted.

“Shut up,” Dee backhanded Holly in the chest.

It took all of Holly’s self-control not to smile. She loved it when Dee was rough with her, tit punches and all.

“So, like I was saying, that dirty bitch was dating my cousin, sooo, we did a spell...”

Dee must have been pausing for some kind of effect, but Sandra was losing her patience. “So, go on.”

“Well, you know it’s like butterfly theory or whatever, so you can’t connect all the dots, but like, the short story goes like this: that bitch and her whole family got murdered.”

Sandra spun in her seat, somewhat surprised as the rest of the car snickered. “You murdered her family?”

Holly leaned forward. “Not us, silly. We just made an offering and got the ball rolling. The demon killed an old man with a heart attack or something and started a chain reaction that sent the possessed tub to that bitch’s house. You know how this shit works.”

Sandra giggled and shook her head. “You are bitches.”

“Bitches and witches,” the whole car chanted.

“I wanted to buy the tub when it was done,” MG said. “What a fucking keepsake.” She rolled her eyes and squeezed her nipples over her jacket. “I get so hot thinking about it.”

“You bitches are just as horny as ever,” Sandra said, then pointed to the side of the road a few feet past the corner of 10th and Lake. “Park here.”

Janice saw nothing of interest there. No house with a party, no abandoned buildings to vandalize and chant in, just a neighborhood and a fenced-in construction site.

“What the fuck are we doing?” Janice whined as she parked.

“You don’t feel that?” Sandra squinted, her hand hovering in the middle of the car. The hairs on her backhand stood up straight. “I thought you fuckers were serious witches.”

The others glanced at each other and said nothing.

“Just come on. You’ll appreciate this.” Sandra opened the door and walked toward the plastic-covered fence. She didn’t wait or say anything as the others got out of the back. She climbed the fence and hopped over.

“Bitch,” MG mumbled as Sandra dropped out of site.

“I know,” Dee said. “We come pick her up, and she acts like a total bitch.”

“Come on, you cunts,” Sandra called from the other side.
